An attempted armed robbery at a Whataburger in Dallas, Texas ended with one suspect fatally shot and another in handcuffs.

NBC 5 Dallas Fort-Worth reports that two people walked up to an off-duty security guard eating his dinner in his car at the fast food chain parking lot located in the 5500 block of Lemmon Avenue just before 1 a.m. on Thursday morning.

One of the suspects, a 19-year-old man whose name has not been made public, pulled a weapon and tried to rob the security guard. Fortunately, the security guard was able to draw his gun and, according to WBAP, shoot the would-be armed robber in the head.

Police arrived and the 19-year-old suspect was pronounced dead. His accomplice was taken into custody.

Dallas Police Department spokeswoman Lt. LaToya Porter said the security guard didn’t sustain any injuries.

While details are scant on the case, for now, this appears to be a justified self-defense shooting.
