Left to Right: Bianchi Frontier Gunleather Auto-Quick, N82 Tactical Original Holster, DeSantis Cozy Partner, Elite Survival BCH 7
For carrying the new Chiappa .380, the best rig I found was Bianchi Frontier Gunleather’s new Auto-Quick model. The holster only surrounds the middle of the frame and triggerguard, so barrel length is not a factor here. The Auto-Quick’s design puts the wearer’s belt through loops on the front of the pouch (rather than behind it like traditional Yaqui slide styles), so the gun and holster are held closer to the waistline for better concealment. The N82 Tactical’s original N82 holster is a unique design that uses a clear, injection-molded plastic pouch mounted to a synthetic skirt sandwiched over a neoprene liner and a soft suede backing that rests against the wearer’s body. (http://www.n82tactical.com; 336-237-1943)
The DeSantis Cozy Partner is an excellent IWB rig with snap closure straps for easily securing the rig to the wearer’s belt. It has a slight forward cant for a smooth draw and the heavy leather throat makes reholstering easy. (http://www.desantisholster.com; 800-424-1236)
The thinnest and lightest IWB there is comes from Elite Survival Systems. The BCH 7 fits the MC 14 perfectly, and its ballistic nylon construction barely adds any width to the gun. The steel belt clip keeps the rig firmly in place. (866-340-2778; http://www.elitesurvival.com)
The pocket carry issue with the Chiappa MC 14 comes down to the longer, wider grips required for the double-stack magazine. It is a gun best suited to carry in a belt holster. By comparison, the new Glock 42, also fairly large for a .380, is just slightly smaller, 0.44 inches less in slide length, 1.04 inches in height and almost half an inch narrower.
