Auto-Ordnance Drops A Commemorative 1911 & Thompson to Mark 250 Years of Army Grit

Two and a half centuries of American grit. That’s what Auto-Ordnance is tipping its hat to with its latest commemorative firepower: a custom Thompson and M1911A1, dressed to the nines in red, white, and ballistic steel.

Dubbed “A Salute to Service,” this limited-edition rifle-and-pistol duo marks the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army’s founding—June 14, 1775. And as you’d expect from the team at Auto-Ordnance (with an assist from the engraving artisans at Altered Arsenal), these pieces aren’t just historical—they’re tactical works of art.

The 250th Anniversary Thompson: The Trench-Broom Reborn

Let’s start with the showstopper: the 250th Anniversary Army Thompson. Chambered in the iconic .45 ACP, this subgun brings WWII vibes and modern craftsmanship in one package. The steel receiver and American Walnut furniture are decked out in commemorative engravings—from Revolutionary War soldiers to today’s warfighters. The OD Green/Coyote Tan Cerakote two-tone job is topped off with a brilliant FX Gold 250th Anniversary banner and uniform-inspired detailing across the top of the receiver. Cerakote Black outlines and gold “buttons” mimic a dress uniform jacket. Yeah, it’s that detailed.

Bonus? A 30-round stick mag—because freedom doesn’t come in small doses.

The Commemorative M1911A1: Classic G.I., Dressed for the Ball

The matching 1911 is a straight-up tribute to the soul of the American sidearm. Based on the M1911A1 Government Issue, it packs all the throwback feels—plus some serious engraving. “ARMY” is front and center on the left side of the slide, with “United States” and the FX Gold anniversary banner on the right. That uniform layout across the top of the slide? It’s back, in black and gold glory.

But the real star: the custom wood grips. One panel features a colonial soldier—flintlock and all—while the other salutes today’s warriors in full battle rattle. You get one 7-round mag, because classic never goes out of style.

Honor, Engraved

Together, these commemoratives do more than shoot—they speak. They tell a 250-year story of sacrifice, evolution, and raw American toughness. Whether you’re a collector, vet, or just someone who knows their history isn’t found in a textbook—it’s written in steel and sweat—this set is for you.
