I never realized the importance of first aid kits. Then, one day, I accidentally sliced my finger and was left frantically searching my car for a bandage. My flesh wound did not warrant a trip to the hospital. However, I cannot help but think how much less stressful the situation would have been if I simply had the proper tools on hand. So, I take first aid seriously and have found a great beginner kit for women that every woman should carry.

My lack of preparedness is a mistake I will never make again. Now, I cannot stress enough the importance of first aid kits because you never know when injuries will happen. If you’re looking for a compact, cute, and simple-to-use option, here’s one that I recommend from the brand Blingsting. 

First Aid Clutch

The First Aid Clutch by Blingsting is a kit equipped with seventy-five first aid rescue supplies that fit inside a metallic gemstone case. The case is designed to have a slim profile to help fit in tight spaces. As a result, it is the perfect size to toss inside a diaper bag, your car, a travel bag, or inside a desk drawer.

Overall, I loved the pink interior on this clutch and found that the “Kiss it better” slogan on the inside was a nice touch to the kit’s design. Additionally, another noteworthy feature is that the First Aid Clutch is TSA-friendly. 

Keep it Clean

One of the most important aspects of wound care is keeping the cut or scrape clean. Out of the seventy-five supplies this kit offers, three are cleaning materials. These include six antiseptic cleaning wipes, six sting relief pads, and six alcohol pads.

Antiseptic wipes are great to use before applying ointment or a bandage because they are effective at killing bacteria. Similarly, alcohol pads are better suited for surface cleaning and ideal for cleaning around wounds to prevent bacteria from spreading.

Regarding the sting relief prep pads, these wipes are useful for removing the pain and itch from bug bites. Moreover, my favorite feature about the three cleaning materials is that each item was labeled clearly. 

Protect the Wound

Once a cut or scrape is cleaned, the area must be covered with a correct-sized bandage to help prevent infection and allow the wound to heal properly. Blingsting’s kit includes ten fabric bandages, five finger bandages, five knuckle bandages, and two butterfly bandages for an array of wounds.

Each adhesive was durable, breathable, flexible, and, more importantly, comfortable to wear against my skin. Essentially, I had no complaints about wearing these dressings and would gladly use them again with no problems.

The kit includes enough bandages for a good start, and if necessary, you can always add extra dressings. Moreover, five gauze pads and one roll of gauze tape are included in the clutch as well. 

Additional Supplies

Finally, the last two materials included in this clutch are safety pins (five) and cotton swabs (eighteen). Safety pins are important in a first aid kit because they secure bandages, clothing, and other accessories. In addition, cotton swabs can be used to help clean wounds and can assist you in applying ointment.

I will note that I wish this first aid kit included antibacterial ointment, scissors, and tweezers. However, each of these items can be easily added with no issues. 

Final Thoughts

A good first aid kit lets you clean and protect your cuts, scrapes, bumps, and bruises and provides peace of mind. While this kit is not made for serious injuries, it is great for minor wounds. This makes it an excellent beginner first aid kit. 

Every item was clearly labeled, easy to use, and fit perfectly inside the metallic case. The clutch itself was cute, easy to identify, and reusable. Whether to cover, wrap, or sanitize an injury, I know that the Blingsting First Aid Clutch has what I need. If you’re a woman on the go, you should also have one handy.
