687 Silver Pigeon III: Beretta’s Timeless Over-Under Returns

Beretta just dropped big news today, launching its newest over-under shotgun, the 687 Silver Pigeon III. The new Silver Pigeon III builds on the Silver Pigeon I within the 680 series of shotguns.

At first glance, this 687 feature the embellishments one expects. If features engraving via five-axis laser technology. Floral motifs and game scene include pheasant and partridge for a timeless look.

The pistol grip stock comes with a 35/55 drop in right- and left-handed configurations. A round forend compliments, both cut from selected class 2.5 walnut. A gloss finish protects against moisture and highlights the wood grain. Fine checkering helps provide a non-slip grip.

On top, more engraving highlights the action frame and receiver shoulders. It mimics the motif on the junction of the upper barrel, according to Beretta.

The shotgun features a gold-colored single selective trigger. A selector on the safety tang allows shooters to select the barrel for first shot.

A 20mm MicroCore butt pad helps tame recoil. Meanwhile, a slim receiver utilizes the company’s dependable locking system with trapezoid shoulders an dual conical locking lugs.

The 6×6 windowed top rib provides anti-reflective checkering. A spherical steel front sight helps shooters draw a bead on game or clays. Steelium Optima Bore HP tri-alloy steel barrels round out the package.

The 687 Silver Pigeon III comes in 12-, 20- and 28-gauge, as well as .410. It delivers all the hallmarks that make Beretta shotguns famous. Retail price comes in at $2,899.
