Big Guns: The Best Shotguns Released at SHOT Show 2025

SHOT Show 2025 is in the rearview mirror, and we have lots of new offerings hitting the firearms market this year. Shotgun manufacturers kept pace with everyone else, debuting several exciting new designs, as well as new versions of old favorites. We trooped the exhibit hall floors all week and saw everything from traditional over-unders and coach guns, to cutting edge tactical guns. So, without further ado, here’s what we found.

Agency Arms MAC 4 Tradesman Tactical Shotgun

Agency Arms MAC 4 Tradesman Tactical Shotgun

Agency Arms and Military Armament Corporation also bring us the Agency-MAC 4 Tradesman, a Benelli M4 clone without the M4 price tag. The semi-auto 12-gauge features a polymer stock with a pistol grip and an Agency Arms M-Lok handguard. The 18.5-inch barrel provides maximum maneuverability and the gun has Benelli/Mobile/1/3/5 choke tubes. The MAC-4 Tradesman has a 3-inch chamber and is topped with ghost ring sights. The magazine has a 5+1 capacity and is ghost load capable. MSRP $1,199.

American Tactical Road Agent

American Tactical Road Agent

American Tactical introduced two exciting new double-barrel designs in the Road Agent SGD and Road Agent Prime 12-gauge shotguns. Reminiscent of the days when “riding shotgun” actually meant just that, the Road Agents feature engraved receivers, walnut stocks, and 3-inch chambers. They also have double triggers and exposed hammers, just like God intended.

They also feature ATI’s new safety/decocker mechanism that allows you carry the guns with a cocked hammer, or you can safely decock it using the lever. No more manually lowering the hammer on a loaded chamber. The Road Agent SGD has a black receiver and 18.5-inch barrel, while the Road Agent Prime features a stainless-steel finished receiver and a 26-inch barrel. Both guns ship with a set of chokes and list for a very attractive $599.95.

Benelli Nova 3 Pump Shotgun

Benelli Nova 3 Pump Shotgun

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The Benelli Nova is a well-proven design that the company has built on with the new Nova 3 pump gun. Benelli has improved the Nova by integrating M4 technology with their Poly-Mod construction to create a lighter, faster and more responsive shotgun for modern hunters and shooters. Improvements include a 14 percent shorter cycling stroke of the 3-inch chamber than the original Nova, and improved reliability with the new M4 bolt face. The cutoff button under the forend allows a chambered shell to be removed without releasing rounds from the magazine. Improved trigger and ergonomics, reduced recoil via the improved recoil pad, and a red fiber optic front sight for faster target acquisition round out the new Nova 3. The gun is available with a 26- or 28-inch barrel, and in black, Realtree Max, and Mossy Oak Bottomland finishes. MSRP: $529 or $629 depending on the finish.

Benelli Super Black Eagle 3 A.I. BE.S.T. Semi-Auto Shotgun

Benelli Super Black Eagle 3 A.I. BE.S.T. Semi-Auto Shotgun

The Super Black Eagle 3’s latest iteration features Benelli’s new Advanced Impact (A.I.) barrel and choke system, which boasts up to 50 percent more penetration on target thanks to higher velocity and more energy. Benelli says the new A.I. barrels also produce a tighter, more uniform shot string. The gun also features the new Benelli Surface Treatment (BE.S.T.), which carries a 25-year warranty against rust and corrosion.

The gun still boasts the Super Black Eagle 3’s inertia-driven operating system, allowing it to cycle any load you care to use, from 2.75- to 3.5-inch magnum shells. Available in 12 and 20-gauge with a 28-inch barrel. MSRP: $3,199 (12-gauge) and $2,999 (20-gauge).

Beretta A-400L Semi-Auto Shotgun

Beretta A-400L Semi-Auto Shotgun

Beretta’s new A400L isn’t even on the company’s website yet, but they were excited to show it to us. The L model will be a top-of-the-line A-400 semi-auto, with the proprietary B-Link operating system, Steelium cold-hammer forged barrel, Optima HP choke system, and a handsome engraved receiver. The walnut stock and forend are gorgeous. The A-400L can take 2.75- and 3-inch shells. We were told that it doesn’t have the Kick-Off recoil system, though it will probably be offered in the near future. MSRP will be $3,299.

Beretta 688 Performance Sporting Shotgun

Beretta 688 Performance Sporting Shotgun

The Beretta 688 Performance Sporting over-under is the successor to the Model 686 Sporting. The laminated grey birchwood B-Fast stock offers an adjustable cheekpiece and recoil reduction for long days in the field or on the sporting clays range. The 688’s steel receiver is heavier than its predecessor, aiding with felt recoil, and the top break lever is redesigned for easier operation. The gun features Steelium barrels and Beretta’s OCHP chokes. The adjustable travel trigger shoe allows the shooter to customize the length of reach for a personalized fit. MSRP is $3,599.

Derya Max Competition Shotgun

Derya Max Competition Shotgun

Turkish shotgun makers were well-represented this year, including Derya, with their new MAX competition shotgun. The Max was developed by champion competition shooter Sergey Ivanov and based on the Derya MK12 shotgun, though most components will not be interchangeable. The Max is designed for maximum personalization, with an adjustable charging handle, stock, and pistol grip. The stock itself has 10 points of adjustment and the pistol grip has three backstraps.

The progressive deceleration buffer combines with the proprietary muzzle brake to reduce recoil by 20 percent. The brake reduces muzzle flip by a factor of 4. Derya designed a new high-strength transparent polymer magazine with steel-reinforced feed lips for top performance. The gun also has a quick-release handguard for fast and easy access to the gas system. The competition model weighs about 9 pounds, while the tactical model comes in about 2 pounds lighter. The Max should be available by summer 2025. There is no MSRP yet, but we were told that it would cost less than the MK12.

Escort Optima Over-Under Shotguns

Escort Optima Over-Under Shotguns

Escort’s new Optima Over-Under shotguns feature the company’s Easy Adjust action system, which allows the shooter to customize the force needed to open the breech to eject spent shells. This system ensures smooth operation and creates a more enjoyable shooting experience. The Optima’s lightweight aluminum receiver is available with black or silver engraved finishes. Steel receivers are optional for 12-gauge models. The Turkish walnut stock and forend are nicely checkered for a positive grip. The Optima is available in 12, 20, and 28-gauge, chambered for 3- and 2.75-inch shells, and includes Escort’s multi-choke system.

Escort WS Youth Shotgun

Escort WS Youth Shotgun

Based on the WS model pump shotgun, the 20-gauge Escort WS Youth model is designed for young hunters. The aluminum alloy receiver and chrome-plated steel 22-inch barrel make for a lightweight, maneuverable gun, while the 13.75-inch length-of-pull allows younger shooters to handle the gun comfortably. The WS Youth is chambered for 3-inch magnum shells and includes a multi-choke system. The stock and forend are Turkish walnut. The 7mm raised rib is checkered to reduce glare, and the gun has a highly visible fiber optic front sight. The tube magazine holds four rounds and includes a migratory plug that limits capacity to two rounds.

Heritage Coachwhip

Heritage Coachwhip

Heritage Mfg. continues the resurgence of classic shotgun stylings with the new 12-gauge Coachwhip, a side-by-side double barrel gun that would feel right at home guarding a Wells Fargo strongbox or frontier cabin. The 18.5-inch barrels include a basic brass bead sight, and the Turkish walnut stock and forend give it a beautiful look. But the Coachwhip’s most striking feature is the case-hardened steel-finished receiver coupled with the dual rabbit ear hammers. We thought the Coachwhip was the most visually striking shotgun we saw all week. Double triggers offer maximum control, while the tang safety provides modern reliability. MSRP is $984.99.

Husan Arms H-Force Tactical Shotgun

Husan Arms H-Force Tactical Shotgun

The Husan Arms H-Force is an exciting design that further marries the scattergun to the AR-15. The shotgun is built on a DPMS-compatible AR lower, and the H-Force lower is fully compatible with a .308 AR upper and accepts .308 magazines.

But the H-Force includes other impressive features like a fully adjustable stock, generous rail space, a reversible charging handle, and a rear monopod. Husan Arms master armorer Juan Varona’s enthusiasm for the H-Force was palpable and contagious. We’re looking forward to this one. The H-Force will be available later this year.

Mossberg 590R Tactical Shotgun

Mossberg 590R Tactical Shotgun

Any new shotgun based on the Mossberg 590 demands attention. Mossberg drew lots of that at SHOT Show 2025 with its new Rotary Safety Series guns, including the 590R. The ambidextrous AR-style rotary safety gives the series its name, but the 590R is much more than that.

The gun features an 18.5-inch barrel with integrated heat shield; top rail and barrel-mounted Magpul MBUS 3 flip-up sights; an enlarged, beveled loading port with an exposed follower; Mossberg’s Accu-Choke system, a flat-profile trigger, and a 5-position adjustable stock with a Magpul MOE pistol grip, interchangeable recoil pad, and two quick-detach points. The pump-action 590R comes in 12-gauge with a 3-inch chamber and a 6+1 tube magazine. MSRP is $1,085.

Mossberg also offers the 590R Standoff version, which lacks the MBUS flip-up sights, but includes a ported breaching muzzle. MSRP is also $1,085.

Mossberg 590RM Mag-Fed Tactical Shotgun

Mossberg 590RM Mag-Fed Tactical Shotgun

The 12-gauge 590RM offers the same features as the 590R but adds the improved capacity of a 10-round detachable magazine, with 20-rounders also available. Our previous experience with mag-fed pump shotguns has been less-than-stellar, but reports on the 590RM are very good. We found it much easier to handle and shoot at Range Day than our other mag-fed guns. Unlike the 590R, the 590RM has a 2.75-inch chamber. It is also available in the Standoff model, with the same feature differences as the 590R. MSRP for the 590RM and 590RM Standoff is $1,190.

Mossberg 940 Pro Tactical SPX

Mossberg 940 Pro Tactical SPX

Mossberg also expanded the much-loved 940 platform with the 940 Pro Tactical SPX Series. These 12-gauge guns feature a 3-inch chamber; an eight or five-round tube magazine; a new forend with integrated heat shield, QD points, and M-Lok slots; adjustable length-of-pull; a cleaner-running gas system, and a redesigned, oversized safety, knurled charging handle, and ergonomic bolt release.

The optic-ready receiver allows direct mounting of RMSc-footprint red dots, and the gun ships with RMR, Docter, and Leupold adapter plates. The receiver is also drilled and tapped for other optics or accessories. Mossberg offers a Holosun Micro Dot Combo that includes a Holosun 407K red dot. A Vang Comp Systems six-shotshell carrier is also included with all 940 Pro Tactical SPX models. Two Cerakote models are also available. MSRP runs from $1,190 to $1,371, depending on the model.

Panzer Arms M2 Speed

Panzer Arms M2 Speed

Panzer Arms brings us another semi-auto Benelli M2 clone, but this one has a nice Turkish walnut stock and 24-inch barrel to bring the fast-cycling action to the sporting world. The M2 Speed has a 3-inch chamber and a nine-round tube magazine. The full-length rib has a brass bead rear sight coupled with a fiber-optic front sight for top performance.

Ronin Tactical Genesis 12 PDS Shotgun

Ronin Tactical Genesis 12 PDS Shotgun

Genesis Arms partnered with Ronin Tactics’ Tu Lam to produce the Ronin Tactical Genesis 12 PDS, based on the proven semi-auto, mag-fed Genesis 12 platform, specifically the Genesis PDS (Personal Defense Shotgun). The gun features a 5-inch barrel (on a 12-gauge!) and is designed to be paired with a Ventum 12K suppressor. The collapsible stock and vertical foregrip help maintain control, and the full-length top rail provides space for the new Holosun Digital Reflex Sight-Thermal, combining red dot and thermal capability. The camo finish and stamped “RONIN” are very cool. The gun is not yet live on Genesis Arms but should be available soon.
