Chinook Medical Gear — a proven distributor and manufacturer of tactical medical kits — has unveiled their new line of Mass Casualty/Active Shooter Kits: the Individual Casualty Medical Trauma Kit, Public Access Mass Casualty Kit, and Public Access Mass Casualty Station. Designed for schools, offices, and public buildings, these kits provide both the general public and first responders with high-quality supplies for performing rapid on-scene treatment.
According to the press release, victims of mass casualty and active shooter situations often die due to the time it takes for EMS to reach them. To rectify this, the Hartford Consensus Conference II wants to educate and equip the public to be first care providers. Essentially, they want uninjured bystanders or victims with minimal injuries to begin lifesaving treatment using proper knowledge and adequate medical supplies.
“Five minutes can mean the difference between life and death, and unfortunately first-responders can’t always be there in sufficient time,” states Jessica Denison, COO with Chinook Medical Gear. “By providing public access hemorrhage control kits, anyone on the scene can help save lives and improve the outcome of these horrific events.”
While Chinook recommends basic medical training, the best part about these kits is that they come with clear and simple product instructions to guide a bystander with no training through patient care, thereby increasing the chances of survival.
The Individual Casualty Medical Trauma Kit is a vacuum sealed kit with field tested medical supplies for treating severe bleeding, chest injuries, and preventing shock induced hypothermia. It is designed to fit inside Chinook’s Public Access Mass Casualty Kit or mounted to a belt or vest via Chinook’s TMK-IFAK Pouch. MSRP is $59.95. See below for contents.
The Public Access Mass Casualty Kit allows for rapid deployment of up to five Individual Casualty Medical Trauma Kits. It has a side panel which immediate access to the Individual Casualty Medical Trauma kits without hindering movement. It also has a side zipper pocket for storing additional medical supplies. It can be stowed inside the Public Access Mass Casualty Station.
The Public Access Mass Casualty Station is a wall mountable cabinet designed to store the Public Access Mass Casualty Kit in a designated public location or safe area.
