The Girsan Witness2311 5” Government Model 9mm Now Shipping

Back in April, Girsan announced the Witness2311 line with a promise that it would be shipping soon (below). That time is now, as the company introduces shipping for the 5-inch Government model 9mm. And the first 3,000 units will ship with an EAA FAR-DOT optic already installed.

Featuring a traditional polymer grip and receiver, the Witness2311 is coming at the 2011 market hard. The 5-inch Government double-stack 1911 boasts an impressive array of features that balances performance with affordability. Not to mention a 17+1 capacity in 9mm.

The Witness2311 delivers functionality for both right- and left-handed shooters with an ambidextrous safety and reversible magazine release. Likewise, a four-slot Picatinny rail sits just forward of the squared trigger guard for installing a light or laser. In addition, the extended beavertail grip, with grip safety, prevents slide bite and promotes a solid purchase.

The slide features forward and rear cocking serrations for enhanced manipulation, wet or dry. In addition, a dovetail white dot front sight couples with the rear optic plate mounted sight. Correspondingly, the optic cut facilitates the seamless integration of optics with the RMS/RMSc footprint. However, the rear sight is removed with the plate, so optics like the EAA FAR-DOT will be required for co-witnessing.

Likewise, offering even more bang for the buck, the first 3,000 units ship with the EAA FAR-DOT red dot optic installed.

The EAA FAR-DOT optic features one of the smallest footprints on the market. In addition, the solar-powered optic includes two integral rear dot fibers providing a rear sight for co-witnessing. Finally, the optic has a 4 MOA dot with multiple brightness settings for clear target acquisition.

On April 21, 2023, Tactical Life reported:

EAA’s new Girsan Witness2311 brings a 2011-style double-stack platform aimed squarely at competition shooters and those wanting more capacity for defense. And this one does it for around $1,000, chambered in 9mm, .45 ACP or 10mm.

EAA Girsan Witness2311 Pistol

EAA makes no bones about it. They’re going after a 2011 built to be “affordable and one of the highest quality double-stack 1911s today.” As such, this platform features several build components demanded by shooters.

“The new Witness2311 doesn’t just innovate a small market, it opens it up to a whole new consumer,” said Chase Duffey, National Sales & Import Manager, EAA Corp. “The reliability of a Girsan 1911 now available with a much larger capacity and at a price point that everyone can afford; there really is no downside to this new handgun.”

The Witness2311 features a traditional polymer grip and receiver, along with the top end of a Girsan 1911. The pistol accommodates standard double-stack 1911 magazines. It comes in 9mm (17-round capacity), .45 ACP (11-round capacity), or 10mm (15-round capacity). Clearly, with these three chamberings, EAA wants to put a Witness2311 in the hands of competition shooters, along with those looking for a pistol for the trail, concealed carry or home defense.

With retail prices starting around $999, they might just get them all. For even more info, please visit eaacorp.com.

The EAA Girsan Witness2311 retails for around $1,000.

Editor’s Note:

Simply stated, if the Girsan Witness2311 runs reliably, then it becomes an immediate game-changer in competition. Lots of folks want to try running a double-stack 9mm in matches, but the cost often puts acquiring one out of reach. There’s just too many polymer, striker-fired Glocks and Springfields out there to get you on the range for much cheaper. But at right around $1K, the Witness2311 represents a big opportunity for more shooters to start running a 2011-style pistol. And if you’ve ever shot one–when they’re really running hot–then you’ll know that’s a really good thing for shooters everywhere.
