Kansas Legislators Considering New Gun Rights Proposal

Kansas legislators are considering a new gun rights proposal which would prohibit cities and counties from banning the open-carry of guns.

A new gun rights bill is currently being considered by Kansas lawmakers. Under the terms of the proposal, cities and counties would be prohibited from banning the open-carry of guns. Additionally, it would limit the amount of tax dollars devoted to gun buyback programs. All existing ordinances would be declared void.

The House Federal and State Affairs Committee is considering the bill as part of a Thursday morning session.

Last year, a law was enacted which declared that the federal government did not have the power to regulate guns which were manufactured, sold and kept in the state of Kansas.
