Rock Island Armory, part of Armscor, is known for producing quality 1911s, typically with 4140 steel frames for the ultimate in durability. Now the company is offering 1911-style pistols with 7075-T6 aluminum frames to help reduce weight without losing an ounce of strength. These new pistols come chambered in the legendary .45 ACP as well as Armscor’s new .22 TCM, a cartridge that’s making waves in the gun industry.

The .22 TCM (Tuason Craig Micromagnum) is a proprietary bottle-necked cartridge developed by Fred Craig and Rock Island Armory. Before the cartridge was commercialized, it was called the .22 Micro-Mag, and now Armscor has revamped the .22 TCM to create the TCM9R, which has the same overall length of a 9x19mm round. The .22 TCM9R uses a 39-grain jacketed-hollow-point (JHP) bullet to achieve 2,000-fps velocities from a 5-inch barrel. The round is so fast that it still achieves 1,650 fps out of a 3.5-inch barrel while offering low recoil.

Several slide/frame configurations are available for these new aluminum-framed 1911s.
