The 2018 Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous in early October gave me an up-close look at some of the “latest and greatest” in the industry. One significant optic I got to test was the Sightmark Ultra Shot M-Spec LQD reflex sight.
As far as modern reflex sights go, the Ultra Shot M-Spec should be near the top of your list.

Sightmark Ultra Shot M-Spec Features
The red 65-MOA circle-dot red reticle has 10 brightness settings. Compatible with night-vision equipment, it has multiple brightness modes, parallax correction beyond 10 yards and 1 MOA click adjustments; this spans a total of 120 MOA of travel. The central dot is 2 MOA. Slotted windage and elevation adjustments make the process easier.
Once sighted in, the Ultra Shot M-Spec’s internal locking adjustment system keeps everything set.
Depending on the amount of power consumed according to brightness, battery life ranges from 200 to 2,000 hours on a single CR123 battery. It has a motion sensing auto shut off after 12 hours sitting idle.

The IP55 weather-resistant, shockproof Ultra Shot M-Spec LQD Reflex boasts a magnesium alloy body and a 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum protective shield. In other words, it’s built tough.
The Ultra Shot M-Spec has a recoil rating up to .338 Lapua Magnum, locking Picatinny mount and a lifetime warranty. It includes adjustment tools, a CR123A battery, operation manual and neoprene cover. It is compatible with the Sightmark XT-3 Tactical Magnifier, which I operated in tandem with the Ultra Shot.
The objective lens measures 33x24mm, the overall unit measures 4.01 x 2.24 x 2.32 inches and weighs 10.2 ounces.

Range Time With the Sightmark Ultra Shot M-Spec
Perfectly suited for fast, accurate action at the range, the Sightmark Ultra Shot M-Spec LQD Reflex Sight delivers a crisp field of view with an advanced, anti-reflective, scratch resistant lens system. The parallax-free wide lens provided quick target acquisition.
Rested on a DOA shooting bench, it was a simple task to pound steel shot after shot out to 300 yards with a lightweight 9mm AR wearing the Sightmark Ultra M-Spec.
One of the best features of this unit is an integrated sunshade that retracts when not needed. It made a notable difference shooting in Montana at the Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous.

Why Pick the Sightmark Ultra Shot M-Spec?
The build alone is almost worth the price. It’s a rugged sight that is up to just about anything you can throw at it.
But performance is obviously the most important factor. The Ultra Shot M-Spec is fast and accurate — two qualities that are paramount for a reflex sight. From our shooting, 300 yards was a breeze. So if you’re only looking to go out to 50 or 100 yards, you’re in very good hands.
What about price point? The Ultra Shot M-Spec LQD retails for $299. For that price, it’s pretty much a no-brainer.
