Springfield Armory announced today the expansion of one its newer 1911 lines. The Springfield Armory Emissary line adds a new 4.25-inch model in .45 ACP and a 5-inch 9mm. Both pistols bring the same custom-grade features previously found on the original Emissary.

Built for defense, but featuring custom-level touches, the Emissary attempts to bring a higher end platform to carry enthusiasts. Springfield boasts the line bridges the gap between duty and custom. As such, it comes well appointed. Each pistol features a forged stainless steel frame and carbon steel slide. A striking two-tone finish stands out, pairing a blue carbon steel slide with the stainless steel frame. A distinctive squared trigger guard delivers extra clearance for a gloved hand.
The Tri-Top slide cut adds to the custom-type look. Meanwhile, a flattened top strap exhibits 40 LPI serrations, reducing glare. Conversely, a tritium front sight pairs with a Tactical U-Dot rear sight for a visible sight picture in all lighting conditions.
A bushingless heavy stainless steel 4.25- or 5-inch bull barrel delivers maximum accuracy. It also reduces felt recoil and muzzle flip, according to Springfield Armory. Additionally, a skeletonized hammer reduces lock time, combining with a solid-body, flat-faced trigger for enhanced performance.
The front strap and mainspring housing come wrapped in a grenade-pattern texture. VZ Grips, machined from G10, adds to the striking package.
