Suppressors / Silencers

Suppressors

Suppressors attach to the barrel of a gun and use baffles to redirect and trap the expanding gases that propel a bullet. This results in a significant reduction of noise. Suppressors are regulated by the National Firearms Act (NFA) of 1934. The NFA imposes a tax on the manufacture, sale, and transfer of suppressors. In order to purchase a suppressor, an individual must submit an application to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Next, you must pay a $200 tax and undergo a background check. There is a waiting period for approval, which can take several months. In most states, it is legal to use a suppressor while hunting. However, there are some states that prohibit their use. It is important to check the laws in your state before using a suppressor.

Why Get a Suppressor?

Suppressors offer many benefits for shooters. They help reduce noise pollution, dampen recoil, and can be used to help improve accuracy by minimizing muzzle rise. If you are interested in purchasing a suppressor, be sure to do your research and select one that is right for you and your firearm.
