Armed Citizens
In the United States, there are an estimated 80 million gun owners and over 300 million firearms. The vast majority of gun owners are responsible and law-abiding armed citizens. Unfortunately, there is also a small number of individuals who misuse firearms.
Each year, there are approximately 30,000 firearm-related deaths in the United States. Of these deaths, 60% are suicides, 36% are homicides, and the remaining 4% are accidents. Those that are on the wrong side of the law often find themselves face-to-face with an armed citizen.
While the issue of gun violence is complex and multi-faceted, one thing is clear: guns in the hands of criminals and those with mental health issues can have devastating consequences. This is why it is so important for responsible armed citizens to understand and follow all safety precautions when handling firearms.
