This is especially good since a gun is only as good as its user. Additionally, synagogues and other religious buildings typically contain parishioners. Training is required to know when to shoot and when not to shoot. Of course, in an attack, timing can be very fluid, and sometimes hard decisions must be made.\r\n\r\nIn any case, training is even more important than providing a tool. The chances of a mass shooting in church is actually quite rare; just as rare as mass shootings in general. In fact, church leaders probably have a greater chance of being robbed on the street than having to protect their flocks. This is why training is so important. Church leaders tend to be caring individuals. They also don't typically think tactically. Training is about so much more than using a gun. Good training teaches situational and tactical awareness. It also makes people look around and see what might be a problem, from a suspicious person to an unlocked door or window.\r\n\r\nSure, giving away free AR-15 rifles is awesome, and Bernstein deserves accolades. And rabbis should consider his offer. He was, however, to fend off and kill the mountain lion, using only his hands. Afterwards, the runner, despite serious injuries, was able to get out of the area and make to a local hospital.\r\n\r\nCPW officers searched the area and found a dead\u00a0juvenile mountain lion, along with personal items dropped by the runner during the incident. The officers took it to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife animal health lab for a necropsy. The CPW stated the runner did everything right in the situation.\r\n\r\n\u201cThe runner did everything he could to save his life,\" said\u00a0Mark Leslie, CPW\u00a0Northeast Region manager. \"In the event of a lion attack you need to do anything in your power to fight back just as this gentleman did.\"<\/span>\r\n Polis signed Senate Bill 78 Monday, reported UPI<\/a>. It requires guns owners report any lost or stolen gun within five days. The bill alleges to require guns owners \"responsibly and securely\" store firearms not in use. It further requires all licensed gun dealers provide locking devices for every sale or transfer. The measure eventually took the name \"Isabella Joy Thallas Act,\" honoring a 21-year-old woman shot and killed with a stolen rifle belonging to a Denver police sergeant, reported UPI. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \"While of course this legislation can't bring any of our fellow Coloradoans back who are no longer with us, we know that this not only can prevent future loss of life, but can also be part of the healing for the Thallas family and so many others impacted by gun violence by a stolen gun,\" Polis said, reported UPI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The law takes effect in September. It will levy a $25 for first offense. A second offense to report a lost or stolen gun jumps to $500. A 13-year-old boy grabbed his mother's gun when two suspects allegedly attempted to force themselves inside the home. The boy fired several times, and shots found their mark. One suspect died from his wounds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Now in Colorado, that same 13-year-old boy won't have the same chance to fight back. Despite monumental efforts by gun rights groups, there are still places where it is illegal to carry a gun. Speed, skill and physical strength are great assets for those with a defensive mindset. He decided to do something about it. So, he is offering firearms, ammunition and training to rabbis interested in protecting their flocks. Rabbis can even choose, to a certain degree, what they want. Bernstein is offering a choice between an AR-15 rifle and handgun. He is also providing two magazines and 100 rounds of ammunition.\r\n\r\n\"Lets say there is a fire in a synagogue,\" said Bernstein to KOAA News 5<\/a>. \"What do you grab? You grab a fire extinguisher right? Okay, lets say somebody comes in and starts shooting everybody. What are you going to grab? You grab your AR-15 or a rifle or a handgun.\"<\/span>\r\n\r\nAt this point, it is unknown if any rabbis have accepted, or even will accept, the offer. However, there has been some interest. Of course, some believe that arming rabbis isn't the best approach.\r\n\r\nScott Levin with the Colorado Anti Defamation League, thinks that armed security is a good idea, but rabbis with guns would be a distraction. Free AR-15 Rifles & Training<\/h3>\r\nWhile providing firearms to rabbis for protection is good, Bernstein is also offering training<\/a>. This is especially good since a gun is only as good as its user. Additionally, synagogues and other religious buildings typically contain parishioners. Training is required to know when to shoot and when not to shoot. Of course, in an attack, timing can be very fluid, and sometimes hard decisions must be made.\r\n\r\nIn any case, training is even more important than providing a tool. The chances of a mass shooting in church is actually quite rare; just as rare as mass shootings in general. In fact, church leaders probably have a greater chance of being robbed on the street than having to protect their flocks. This is why training is so important. Church leaders tend to be caring individuals. They also don't typically think tactically. Training is about so much more than using a gun. Good training teaches situational and tactical awareness. It also makes people look around and see what might be a problem, from a suspicious person to an unlocked door or window.\r\n\r\nSure, giving away free AR-15 rifles is awesome, and Bernstein deserves accolades. And rabbis should consider his offer. They had notified the Morgan County Sheriff's Office that Martin might be heading to the area in a stolen red Volkswagen Jetta.\n\n[in_content post=\"188103\" alignment=\"align-left\" \/]\n\nDeputies<\/a> spotted the Jetta in a Walmart parking lot. However, the car was empty. According to 9News<\/a>, Martin and Crone decided to stake out the vehicle and arrest the suspect when he returned to the car. As such, multiple deputies parked nearby to watch the car.\n\nAfter spotting Montano in the parking lot, Morgan County Sheriff personnel, including Crone and Martin, surrounded the suspect, ordering him not to move. The video show Montano entering the vehicle and closing the door before jumping out with an object in his right hand. At this point, Crone and Martin fired eight times, hitting the suspect with seven of the shots. After the shooting, police discovered that Montano had an open knife in his hand.\n\nA helicopter flew Montano to the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland where he died of his injuries. Both Crone and Martin were placed on leave while the Morgan County Major Crimes Investigative Team investigated the shooting. He decided to do something about it. So, he is offering firearms, ammunition and training to rabbis interested in protecting their flocks. Rabbis can even choose, to a certain degree, what they want. Bernstein is offering a choice between an AR-15 rifle and handgun. He is also providing two magazines and 100 rounds of ammunition.\r\n\r\n\"Lets say there is a fire in a synagogue,\" said Bernstein to KOAA News 5<\/a>. \"What do you grab? You grab a fire extinguisher right? Okay, lets say somebody comes in and starts shooting everybody. What are you going to grab? You grab your AR-15 or a rifle or a handgun.\"<\/span>\r\n\r\nAt this point, it is unknown if any rabbis have accepted, or even will accept, the offer. However, there has been some interest. Of course, some believe that arming rabbis isn't the best approach.\r\n\r\nScott Levin with the Colorado Anti Defamation League, thinks that armed security is a good idea, but rabbis with guns would be a distraction. Free AR-15 Rifles & Training<\/h3>\r\nWhile providing firearms to rabbis for protection is good, Bernstein is also offering training<\/a>. This is especially good since a gun is only as good as its user. Additionally, synagogues and other religious buildings typically contain parishioners. Training is required to know when to shoot and when not to shoot. Of course, in an attack, timing can be very fluid, and sometimes hard decisions must be made.\r\n\r\nIn any case, training is even more important than providing a tool. The chances of a mass shooting in church is actually quite rare; just as rare as mass shootings in general. In fact, church leaders probably have a greater chance of being robbed on the street than having to protect their flocks. This is why training is so important. Church leaders tend to be caring individuals. They also don't typically think tactically. Training is about so much more than using a gun. Good training teaches situational and tactical awareness. It also makes people look around and see what might be a problem, from a suspicious person to an unlocked door or window.\r\n\r\nSure, giving away free AR-15 rifles is awesome, and Bernstein deserves accolades. And rabbis should consider his offer. The video shows Morgan County Sheriff Jim Crone and Undersheriff Dave Martin confronting a double-homicide suspect in a parking lot.\n\nNew Mexico police suspected Dustin Montano of stabbing his aunt, Debra Martinez, and her 17-year-old daughter, Irisa Montano to death. They had notified the Morgan County Sheriff's Office that Martin might be heading to the area in a stolen red Volkswagen Jetta.\n\n[in_content post=\"188103\" alignment=\"align-left\" \/]\n\nDeputies<\/a> spotted the Jetta in a Walmart parking lot. However, the car was empty. According to 9News<\/a>, Martin and Crone decided to stake out the vehicle and arrest the suspect when he returned to the car. As such, multiple deputies parked nearby to watch the car.\n\nAfter spotting Montano in the parking lot, Morgan County Sheriff personnel, including Crone and Martin, surrounded the suspect, ordering him not to move. The video show Montano entering the vehicle and closing the door before jumping out with an object in his right hand. At this point, Crone and Martin fired eight times, hitting the suspect with seven of the shots. After the shooting, police discovered that Montano had an open knife in his hand.\n\nA helicopter flew Montano to the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland where he died of his injuries. Both Crone and Martin were placed on leave while the Morgan County Major Crimes Investigative Team investigated the shooting. Crone has been the Morgan County Sheriff since 1999, while Martin has served with the department since 1986.
