Earlier this week we brought you the story of a Houston homeowner who shot an intruder in self defense<\/a> on Thanksgiving weekend. Within that piece, we also mentioned a separate incident in which another area homeowner was approached by a gang of armed teenagers outside his house, only to fight back with his concealed carry handgun. We now have more to report regarding that story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Former Marine Shoots Teen Robber<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
It turns out the homeowner is a former Marine named Alexander Borrego. The married father of three told Fox 26 Houston<\/a> he was sitting in his driveway with his garage door open at around 10:30 p.m. on Friday when his children ran inside the house to get their mother so the family could enjoy leisure time outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That's when four armed teenagers suddenly appeared and tried to rob him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"He runs behind me, puts the gun to the back of my head and told me to get up,\" Borrego said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The former Marine complied, and the suspects then started pulling him towards the garage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"That was the only way into the house, so my first reaction was to get away from the garage door and go to the front door where it was locked,\" Borrego recalled. \"We were in a struggle right here. They were pulling me this way.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Everyday Carry<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Fortunately for Borrego\u2014and very unfortunately for the suspects\u2014he happened to be carrying his pistol in the front pouch of his hoodie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"Before pulling the trigger, my last thought was 'we're all going to die right here because none of them are going to get in the house,'\" Borrego said, thinking of his wife and children. \"I'm a lefty, and I just turned like that and swatted the gun away from my head.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Borrego then opened fire<\/a>, shooting one of the suspects twice\u2014once in the chest and once in the leg. All four teenagers immediately bolted from the scene back to the home of the injured robber, who is reported to be 13 years old. His mother drove him to the hospital. He is expected to survive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A security officer working the neighborhood saw two teens running shortly after the incident. He managed to catch up to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"I encountered two of the suspects, running in the neighborhood on the opposite side of the subdivision, detained them, got their information and passed it on to Harris County Sheriff's Department,\" Arthur Chatman Jr. told ABC 13<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Those two suspects were captured shortly thereafter. That leaves one bad guy still at large.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Borrego and his family were thankfully uninjured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A pizza store shooting in Amarillo, Texas left one armed robbery<\/a> suspect dead at the hands of a legally-armed store manager\u00a0earlier this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pizza Store Shooting Details<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Two men\u201436-year-old Clayton Morgan and 29-year-old Ruben Rios\u2014walked into La Bella Pizza at around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday night. Morgan produced a gun and announced a robbery, taking an employee hostage in the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"He got grabbed by the collar. Pretty rough. He thought it was me messing with him,\" a witness told CBS affiliate KFDA<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fortunately, one of the assistant managers who happened to be nearby drew a gun of his own and opened fire, shooting Morgan multiple times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"One of [my] co-workers pull[ed] him away from our dough fridge, where his weapon was when he was shot. And there was a lot of blood just smeared across the floor as he dragged him,\" the witness said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The store employees quickly dialed 911 and Morgan was transported to Level Three Trauma Center at Northwest Texas Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rios managed to flee the scene amid the confusion, but was later apprehended while sitting in a car<\/a> at a nearby apartment complex. He's being hit with a murder charge, as under Texas law he can be held responsible for Morgan's death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As it turns out, the weapon Morgan used was a BB gun fashioned to resemble a real handgun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police confirmed that the assistant pizza store manager who took out Morgan was legally licensed to carry a handgun. He is not being charged with any crime in connection with the pizza store shooting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
