Skillset Highlights from Overland Expo West 2025

Overland Expo West takes place every May in beautiful Flagstaff, Arizona, and this year, we weren’t going to miss it! Overland Expo 2025 promised to be even more impressive, and with a bit of rideshare help from MAZDAUSA, Skillset was going to do it in style. Every year, the expo gets bigger and better, and this year was no exception.

With over 450 vendors and exhibitors in attendance, there is something to satisfy every outdoor enthusiast. Whether you are there for the latest and greatest gear, to see the outrageous builds and rigs of the expo, or to take in a presentation or instructional course, there is plenty to keep you busy. Planning for Overland Expo 2025 is sure to excite every outdoor enthusiast.

As an avid car enthusiast, I find that vehicles are the highlight of the show, and for good reason. It’s hard to get off-grid to those quality destinations without a well-built, fully equipped rig. So, with that said, the primary focus of this video is a brief walk-around of some of the bad-ass builds attending this year’s Overland event.

Big lifts, big tires, and a whole lot of cars are still required for any booth-bound build at Overland, the key word being big. Even over in the Subaru Wilderness booth, every one of their rides was fitted with an aftermarket lift, making it more capable offroad. Having a bit of clearance and a beefed-up suspension are absolute necessities for the amount of extra weight these vehicles see, with the addition of all the extra gear needed for Overland.

Let me tell you, there is no shortage of aftermarket gear and accessories to equip your overland rig. Racks, tents, and drawer systems are a good place to start the transformation to an overland rig, but that’s just the start. What about first aid, recovery, cooking, power needs, and, of course, getting a good night’s sleep?
